Re: CVX-2 : covox adapter

oh nice idea using these sockets for the caps, they are better than what I used... the fun part is that I do have several rows of sockets like these but I saw the other kind first and used that LOL @Great Hierophant you might be on to something, dreamblaster also noticed that the FTL adapter uses …

Re: CVX-2 : covox adapter

I have made 2 more recordings since the original Covox apparently has no capacitors , one with no capacitors at all installed on the CVX2 and the other with only the 4.7nf capacitor installed no caps: https://soundcloud.com/keropi666/serdaco-cvx2-lptdac-01-resistors-no-capacitors-crystal-dreams only …

Re: CVX-2 : covox adapter

I can't really understand atm these readings, what it strikes me as odd is that we are getting reading on the 500k~700k ohm range... isn't that too much? Maybe someone else has a better idea how to crack this.

Re: CVX-2 : covox adapter

yes, if this is a "common resistor network" then there is a single common pin and when measured against the others you should get the same resistance. Have you tried in pairs? 1+2, 3+4 , 5+6 , etc Maybe that's a special network with various resistances in it - hard to tell though without having the …

Re: CVX-2 : covox adapter

MEGA thanks for the pics, sadly all of them use the same array thingie... it is interesting that the 2nd one has pads for ICs on the back side it seems as an alternative way to assemble one or something If you own a multimeter you can try and measure resistance on the pins: http://i64.tinypic.com/ …

Re: CVX-2 : covox adapter

Was hoping it wouldn't come to that :-) but ok. Give me a few hours to do this. http://i58.tinypic.com/2q2emiv.jpg http://i58.tinypic.com/2q2emiv.jpg http://i58.tinypic.com/2q2emiv.jpg http://i58.tinypic.com/2q2emiv.jpg http://i58.tinypic.com/2q2emiv.jpg http://i58.tinypic.com/2q2emiv.jpg http:// …

Re: CVX-2 : covox adapter

I hope mobygamer opens his Speech Thing soon so we can have a look and find out why it sounds better so it gets copied to the CVX2 , the discussion here is getting derailed on how to make a LPT Soundblaster/Gravis/Paula/whatever equivalent...

Re: CVX-2 : covox adapter

are you seriously comparing an LPTDAC device with Paula? c'mon man, this is not a dedicated DAC we are talking about, this is as simple as it gets - don't expect it to replace your soundblaster 🤣 🤣 🤣

Re: CVX-2 : covox adapter

^ Nope not glued thanfully! There are clips on the side so it's just a matter of lifting them so the shell separates . But there is no guarantee the insides are not covered with epoxy/glue - I hope they are exposed.

Re: CVX-2 : covox adapter

Nice video indeed! and there is a difference in sound too - but just to make sure you are recording with your soundcard's mixer/processing disabled right? I think you'll have to open one of these speech things 😁
