Did a quick test with a SB16 Value CT2770 (rev 019423) and it also has the Alien Carnage issue ... (CT1745-S , 4.12 DSP , integrated OPL)

^ just tried Alien Carnage with my 2230 - it does clip when it plays the credits intro - not the story one though

Fully assembled boards are sold by Marmes at over at AmiBay and eBay (AmiBay is cheaper since there are no fees) , I believe there are 5 left now - more to come

nice review, the CT2230 is my SB16 of choice several years now - I even overkilled it and recapped the one in my main ss7 build 🤣 🤣 🤣

yeah as luckybob states you don't need any extra IDE BIOS for a 8GB HDD... just use the mobo's bios with a controller and you'll be fine

really like these old school benchmarks, on my 486/100 setup I use a WD90C33 VLB vga - a CL5428 is a little slower. I like both equally but they are just generic cards, nothing special...

that's why they used that huge heatsink - compare it to the other active-cooling tnt2s ... I bet the machine it was intended for had some kind of airflow - a push--pull systems cooling the whole case or something

medley, it's not fancy and looks like a pimped DOS batch but it's really easy to work with, small and fast . I use it regularly for various tasks, it gets the job done...

My solution to the problem was to use CT2230s + dedicated MPU. I like the 2230 because it's not a PnP card and it has a real OPL3 (integrated in the chip with the OPL logo). I just configure the SB16-MPU at port 300 and leave the dedicated MPU at 330/IRQ2. I have not made any SnR tests though but I …
