Why torture yourself like that? If you already have at least a MCA soundcard go for it but if not I wouldn't say it worths the trouble to use a PS/2 486 and wait eons to buy something like a soundcard. Don't get me wrong, I *love* IBM stuff but the MCA is a deal breaker for me...

Yes, the schematic assumes you are making a breakout cable with female DIN 5 connectors, like the original cable. I am pretty sure that's the fault, inverted cabling. No worries as nothing gets damaged by that .

It is normal for the Z8 to get warm, that's not the problem :) When you say the diagnostics detect the MPU , do you get a screen similar to this? An A600 + ramcard is a killer combo as well 😀 The only "problem" would be that because it has an 68000 you would not be able to quit the whdload game you are running, you would be forced to to a reboot and reload workbench. Not a big deal really, that's how floppy games work too. 🤣
