Re: A tale of two PSUs

Capacitors arrived yesterday, RS offers such a great service that I don't even see the point going to local stores tbh... quality caps in 4 days? sign me up! Excellent idea suggesting RS PCBONEZ  So I finished and tested both monitor chassis and psu - as expected everything is working great : …

Re: EPROM burner. Which one should I get?

in Milliways
well, for retro reasons you don't need the A model (meaning the ICSP port - there is a hack to convert the CS to A model btw ;) ) or all these expensive adapters. A single CS and a couple of PLCC adapters will cost 60-70$ and you can get adapters on a per-need basis. All programmers mentioned here …

Re: EPROM burner. Which one should I get?

@Tetrium nah, rom burning is easy if you make sure the programmer supports the device you want to burn and you have the needed adapter (IF necessary). I have both a GQ-3X and the 866CS , both need adapters for some bigger eproms (or eproms that are not DIP sized) but the 866CS does not need external …

Re: A tale of two PSUs

Excellent then! Thanks for the suggestions :) I will check prices/minimum-orders and either add FCs or use the Chemicons that I have , the order is already at 85eur with the CS caps. LOL thanks again! edit: done, 90e total ... I'll use my 2200/3300 Chemicons and all the rest FCs for the jamma psu. …

Re: A tale of two PSUs

Yes exactly, that is exactly my thoughts when asking for recap advice. PCBONEZ got it 101% correct. I want to service said parts and have them running OK for another 10-15-20 years. I don't care if brand caps from 1995 are "OK". I prefer OK caps from 2014-2015. You don't easily come across (for …

Re: A tale of two PSUs

@Evert Don't forget to measure the original capacitor dimension, most important is the diameter - so when you order the replacements you can get the same or smaller and they fit easily. Some PSU areas are crammed and it really helps if things fit nicely together. Regarding the jamma psu - thanks all …

Re: A tale of two PSUs

started measuring the jamma psu caps for fun this morning... MIEC 220uf caps measure ~195uf ELGEN 3300uf measures ~3230uf GIANT 1000uf measures 726uf Panasonic 2200uf measures 1977uf Panasonic 470uf measures 408uf Panasonic 100uf measures 91uf more or less all are within the 20% tolerance - the …

Re: Anyone running Vivaldi?

in Milliways
I really really really liked Opera and used it from 2000~2013 IIRC but all that nonsense made me migrate to Chrome. An excellent browser it was that turned to something that really had no point existing... one could as well go to chrome and call it a day. I'll check Vivaldi but it must be really …
