^ that's just for testing, I have a small fan cooling it atm... the plan is to bend it properly and attach it to it's place on the mobo's ground plane to act as a heatsink, if you see the pics on the previous page you'll see the empty space behind it 😀

there is also Hard Disk Sentines DOS version, it will print basic SMART info but it's a quick way to check a HDD's status

^ well , basically any card that has RJ45 and a packet driver does the job... the most difficult job is to find the correct driver IMHO it would be great to have a hardware cdrom emulator, but I doubt anyone cares enough to do it 🤣

Nice :) I still think though that 3DBENCH is quite useless... LOL Yea :blah: But it has it's place with slower computers. The only benchmark that runs on a 286 and it scales very well until it runs into faster Pentium III machines :dead: Well, it also craps out with the 486slc2 without cache …

To me that util is just meant to update your autoexec.bat with the BLASTER variable , I never thought it would detect anything 🤣 and yeah, what the deal with type 5 ?!

I see... well I'm not really that interested in 5x86/POD at this point, if I am to upgrade this further I might as well make a p1 build 😁 I think the 100mhz 486 is really fine, plays DOOM stuff decently and with turbo=OFF you get 386DX performance

you can still use the computer but it will nag you each power-on about the CMOS data being invalid , so you need to enter the BIOS, make any needed changes , save+quit and then use the computer... that will happen everytime you hit the power switch .

luckily nothing too serious... toothbrush+vinegar/lemon and just clean the green stuff, they have no business on the solder joints 😁 the 4pins are indeed the external battery connector, so it's an easy fix

It's leaking... you need to remove it ASAP if you don't have any tools just wiggle it left/right and the battery pins will break... then throw the battery to recycling :) You will either need to solder a replacement battery or use an external battery connected to the EXT BAT conenctor on the mobo ( …
