great! the filter is there for a reason: to prevent electrical noise getting in the card... it's not essential but this is a sound device and having less noise is always better. I would replace it anyways

I'd be interested in the pcb+parts kit Is there a way to disable the joystick port on the card? I don't think it's needed by everyone (running it along a sb for example) and it will make the bracket easier to make. If there is a jumper for joystick enable/disable one can opt to not solder the port …

^ the whole pack works fine, it takes a long time for the installer to load on win7/x64 but all demos work... Island has erratic controls though on a modern pc 😀

^ haven't tested any other 3.x driver I'm afraid... I am so pleased with the r128zx DOS performance/compatibility that I sacrificed 3x ... I just boot to 98SE that has good drivers.

I have tested r128 3x drivers... they ARE buggy as hell , leading to system freezes. I have also benched r128. r128zx, tnt and tnt2 DOS performance, all of them are similar so there is no real speed gain in using one or another. I use my SC-8820 as a midi interface , connects through USB and I connect the other synth on it's OUT port... select "SC-8820 MIDI OUT" port as the playback device and you have the other synth working fine , even in win7/x64 🤣
