The trick was to let it "stuck" when attempting to boot, eventually the system configured itself with the Orpheus , recorded the information and since then every boot/reboot was a normal one with no waiting time. Thanks for the pics and info, will hunt down such a system 😀

Just let it sit for 5 mins on several shutdowns and restarts still the same issue. I threw the card in one of my socket7 machines with the jumper settings that were shipped with the card and bingo bango came up with no problems and works great. Put my old Awe32 back in the Optiplex and boots as …

maybe killing caches with ICACHE.EXE or similar can "fix" the issue but in reality you need another card that also has a OPL3 preferably (less speed sensitive)

Hello I would say you need a sbpro2 and upwards in a pentium 1 system - sb2.0 does have speed issues with such fast systems. In the past I also found sb2.0 to be unreliable in my 233mmx system whereas the CT1600 sbpro2 was fine.

I am always using the old PowerQuest/Norton Partition Magic for DOS to create partitions on the target system itself - never failed me in all these years. Could be an option to try - it needs a 386+ to work.
