been testing more... I noticed that with "monkey s" soundblaster sounds all wrong with static, horrible! Naturally I could not just use the 486+ update of the game (another exe basically) so I went to BIOS and disabled both L1+L2 caches.. I got a slow pc under 386DX , run the game, had OK sb sounds …

The trio64v+ seems a very decent choice according to this: http://gona.mactar.hu/DOS_TESTS/ GX2 is a good option too , I can only see a minor Quake problem that is irrelevant to a 486

"Free to Play" is not the same as "Free" ... once they free period has ended then the game needs buying. Steam does that from time to time with games they want to promote

strange, I am using both ISA and PCI nics... maybe the dos driver is not good? I actually setup the ftpserver on the retroPC side and use flashfxp/filezilla on win7/x64 ...

@ Jolaes76 IMHO nothing really needs more than 8MB on a 386 and maybe the limit for a 486 is 32MB assuming you can play with decent framerates the latest games like Shadow Warrior or Dune Nukem 3D... Still in some almost all cases we do put more ram than needed in builds so we can have smartdrv ( …
