I think it causes a conflict with my VLB I/O controller... floppies are dead and I see erratic graphics behavior... I can bother fixing this (will need some help though) but first I want to know if vga_irq on such a system makes a difference 😀

Hiya! I have a CL-5428 vlb vga and it has a jumper to enable/disable IRQ usage... what is it advised to set on a 486DX2/66 ISA/VLB system? TIA for any info!

you have too many LA devices vetz and I have too few 🤣 on topic though, I can't remember any game that *needs* a LA synth and requires a cpu better than a 386... usually stuff that benefit from a 486 support also GM or GS...

nothing special really, noticed the fault and traced the points on the other side of the mobo... soldered a wire and it works! now it is time for an all-night memtest session 😁

I finally found why L2 was invisible on this mobo, turns out it was one damaged track 😀 it was connecting sram with the 74F245 , I rebuilt it and it works now 😁

I am using the "XMS/EMS RAMdisk v1.9i 16-bit DOS TSR" found on excellent MDGx's DOS Power Toys page , just run it before a problematic game and assign ram to the ramdisk, play and unload it again from the command line... no need to modify your boot files this way 😀

Realms of Arkania 2 doesn't like more than 16MB installed, if you have more you just waste megabytes with a ramdisk so you have less than 15MB free of ems/xms this happens on my 128MB p1 build btw

1992? An IBM PS1/pro (model 2123) 386sx/20 2MB ram onboard vga , TI chip I believe with 512kb vram 80MB HDD color vga monitor ESS soundcard , can't remember which

^ yep vinegar is the way to go (I also use lemon juice some times) I think you'll easily save this mobo, after a good cleaning all you need is to maybe fix the diagonal trace at the battery area and maybe re-solder the keyboard connector

with simple airmail in a padded envelope, assuming it's either: 100gr -> ~3.2e 150gr -> ~3.7e 200gr -> ~4.2e I will know exactly when I cut them 😁

I have a 486 board that I can cut the 8x 30pin simm slots (actually 4 dual ones, 8 sticks in total), would it work for you? no 386 cpu though at all...

^ yes, yes I am! :D Regarding the build, I have improved stability when using "The Last Byte" umb driver by DISABLING in BIOS/ADVANCED OPTIONS the Memory Remapping option. With it enabled Jazz Jackrabbit would crash on startup. By disabling it all is good again but you do lose some ~192kb from above …
