I would keep the 286, I don't give a damn about the few lame arcade style games that would run too fast on it. For me its the perfect speed for sierra and lucasart adventure games and mostly good with anything the XT can do. 386 is too new for me to care, at that point I'd go full Pentium 90.

I'd always been told we never went back because there was no point. There was nothing to do on the moon...but now people are claiming other reasons...so what is it? Is it worth going back to or not unless we set up a station for deeper space exploration on the moon?

I run Half Life with a single Voodoo 2 on my P4 3.4Ghz without any real problems. I just went and looked at the Blast Pit section, and that is running at very nearly 30 FPS consistently. Are you using the miniGL driver or running D3D through it, cause that is a disaster.

Windows 10 sets desktop by account. Use a different account or a local account instead. I think it's actually nice to have your setup follow you wherever you login.

Be careful hacking together a cooling solution, especially for old AMD parts, they had no thermal throttling and would just go up in flames.
