Re: 386DX40 build

No, 386DX and 386SX processors usually need different motherboards due to the different data bus widths. (I suppose there might be hybrid boards available but I don't think they'd be very common). This is why a 386DX needs 4 30pin SIMMs to make a bank but a 386SX only needs two.

Re: Would this kind of trade be realistic

Well different people have different values, someone who has a SW1000XG might be a professional musician and have no interest in old sound cards. There's also more hassle involved in shipping items both ways instead of just paying the money and getting one item shipped to you. What if one of the …

Re: NEC XR385

If you're using the latest SB16 files downloaded from Creative's web site, the SET BLASTER line should be added for you automatically when you run DIAGNOSE.EXE Also I'm quite sure you can get rid of the stuff from config.sys pertaining to your sound blaster, if all you are doing is playing games. …

Re: NEC XR385

You shouldn't need any jumpers, but you need to use DIAGNOSE.EXE in the sound blaster drivers to make sure that the MIDI port is enabled with an IO address, most commonly 300h or 330h. Exactly, I'm selling stuff on ebay right now and I know it works fine, but I sell it as 'for parts or not working' simply so I don't have to deal with the buyer if it stops working 2 weeks down the track. I'm getting rid of stuff because I don't have time to fiddle with it, and I certainly don't …

Re: SB 2.0 CT1350 CMS chips dumped

It'll cost about $30 AUD if you wanted two chips - $18 to buy the chips and ship them to me, I'll program them for free, and about $13 in for international shipping from me to you. I'm not really keen to buy a batch of them myself, as I've still got about 15 Lattice GALs that nobody seems to want :P …

Re: SB 2.0 CT1350 CMS chips dumped

in Milliways
I believe the problem with the Rev 0 cards stems from the fact that Chuck(G) used National Semiconductor brand GAL chips while I was using Lattice chips. There seems to be some idiosyncrasy with the Lattice chips that stops them working on the Rev 0 cards, but the same JED file on a Lattice GAL, on …
