Good luck with the project! Since you are going to do hardware address decoding, I suggest an option to also decode ports used by SB16 and (intelligent mode) MPU401 as well (+one extra OPL) . That way the software could later evolve for one perfect single card sound solution.

Can someone explain why latest Topbench detects my CPU as "X5+ (Am5x86+) "? There are non-plus 5x86 results in the database so how is the "+" is detected? CPU ID is 4F4 as it should be. Bug in Topbench or is there some way to tell apart plus and non-plus CPUs?

There are some problems with the L2 disable/enable programs. For example system just froze when trying to disable L2 when L1 is disabled. Some other issues as well. No, that does not look compatible. You would need 28C64 with 28 pins (that can be flashed with XTIDE) or 27C64 EPROM that needs programmer (and UV eraser).

Wasn't the YMF71x supposed to have this "reset bug" that affects some 486 systems? The bug should reset the YMF randomly but maybe you have more severe incompatibility issue with your board and YMF?

I just listened Arrakeen palace recordings by appiah4. YMF719 and ESS sound good but MK8330 does not. I listened with headphones and the MK8330 sounds like some afwul 3D effect is enabled. Is this normal or some mistake when recording?

Do not connect GUS to SB Line-In. With last Sound Blaster models it is okay but with early Model such as the CT1770 the SB Line-IN will reduce sound quality.
