It's definitely a weird card. I'm really curious why Adaptec didn't use chips from Creative or Mediavision though.

4V is probably a bad idea unless you're trying to go for 180MHz (this is quite difficult). The ADW chips are generally regarded as less overclockable than the ADZ parts, but I have had the exact opposite experience somehow. Normally when motherboards have a 3.3V setting they actually deliver …

Micron PC sucked....but Micron Computer Inc made some pretty badass 486 and early Pentium systems.

The problem with my Trio64 VLB card (Hercules Terminator 64/DRAM) turned out to be cold solder joints, not a motherboard issue. Your issue is likely the M919. PCchips sucks!

I could be mistaken, but I don't believe the chips on the ET6000 cards are quite the same as the ones on the ET6100. I think the 6100s require faster chips. Check the part numbers on the chips you already have. I have some chips for an ET6000, and there is a slim chance they may be compatible.

I'm wondering if Skyroads had multiple releases. For example, there are different versions of Sierra games. Some only do VGA. Some only do EGA, and others can do EGA or VGA (using VGA emulation through 620x200 EGA mode).

Maybe I'm missing something, but does Skyroads support EGA graphics? Also, doesn't that game require a 386?

That chip was almost certainly out of the make it 486 upgrade kit. I used to have one. Mine also came with a heatsink. I got my second hand so not sure if it was part of the package, but I suspect it was.
