Is 95 Euros for the card with or without the OPL4? Does the OPL4 do anything worthwhile? It just kind of seems like another run of the mill wavetable add-on to me. It would be a lot more useful if somehow the second OPL3 could be utilised for dual OPL2 support.

Same here. I tried 16BGC B1 stepping at 180. It actually boots into NT4 for a few minutes, but then crashes. I tried up to 4V.

Very few SX boards have cache. An SX without cache is about half the speed of a DX with cache, particularly at 33 and 40MHz.

I don't know this for sure, but I was always under the impression that Micron made their stuff in the US. At least they have/had facilities in the US to produce the chips, and I assume they made their own memory PCBs as well.

I think overclocking an AMD DX4-120 (.5u) to 150 *might* be possible, but you'd probably have to dig through dozens of chips to find one that worked okay. It would probably be about as easy as overclocking the DX5 to 180.

I have test sockets very similar to the one on the lower part of your post (alps?). It's not very useful though unless you want to fab your own PCB. What I'd really like is the one you found in Japan. Please fill me in on the details of how to get some, and what you paid for it.

Trio64 is probably a good choice. I also like the 968 which is only slightly slower in DOS but provides higher resolutions in Windows.
