I haven't really played PC games for a good 20 years or so, but the scariest one I played was "The Legacy" by Microprose. It's probably not scary at all by today's standards.

I have a card with an 805i chip. ELSA Winner 1000ISA. It has a different RAMDAC though and it's ISA.

That card was some special OEM edition which was really an SB16, but due to some bizarre decisions shared the PCB and number of the AWE64. That card is completely useless for DOS gaming, since it cannot produce FM music at all. Wait, it can't do FM at all? Isn't the CQM integrated into the main IC?

Maybe your board is develooping bad solder joints. Recently quite a few of my boards are having issues, some having worked perfectly before being put in storage.
