This was the last PC game I ever played. At the time I had a Tualeron 1200 with 512MB and a Radeon 9600 Pro. The game seemed to work okay with that, but you probably wouldn't want anything much slower.

According to the datasheet it's compliant with the IEEE 754 standards, therefore it should support the extra features of the i387.

The original 80287 can also ben run at the same speed as the CPU. There is a pin that controls this.

I could be mistaken, but I believe that all AMD, IIT and Cyrix 287 FPUs use a 387SX core. I think of the Intel parts, only the 287XL has it.

That's kind of weird. I usually have the reverse problems with these upgrades, being that I can't use them with the original 287 and 387 CPUs. Normally the integrated FPU on the upgrades works without a problem. I bet it's a fairly easy problem to fix, but might require modifying the motherboard.

S3 864 should be 64-bit internally, and should also have a 64-bit path to memory unless only 1MB is installed.

Several months back on vcfed, somebody posted a photo of a board with an 80186 CPU with 16-bit ISA slots. Almost all the pins were said to be connected to where they would go on an AT connector. I don't know if the board was ever powered up and tested, but it would certainly be interesting to follow …

Well, Sony was never really good with black. Their version of black was more like dark blue. It had very good dot pitch for the time. It was .25 when .28 was considered good.

If you use the 2M floppy utility, one of the main limitations is the inability to boot from 1.44MB media. The TSR also uses a few KB of conventional memory. I believe you can load or unload it as needed. To be honest, I haven't really played much with the TEAC SCSI adapter, but a PDF file for it …

I could be wrong, but I don't believe that an 1084S is going to let you run high resolution 16/64-colour EGA modes...only the 16 colour CGA resolutions. If you want to be able to do 350 line modes, a true EGA display or Multisync will be needed. BTW, some of the last EGA cards had extra resolutions …

Note that this is VL-bus specification 2.0. From what I remember, almost all motherboards and cards use specification 1.0.

I don't think you will need to change any PALs. First I would check if all the address lines for the cache have been wired to the chipset. If they have, then all you should have to do is add a few wires to the chipset to set the cache size. I believe it is documented in the CS82310 databook.
