This company is supposed to be Scottish. Do you know if it's the same company and not just a coincidence? They were founded in 1992, so there is a possibility.

Sure, some could be Eteq, but I am pretty sure this particular one isn't. Was there a 2 chip version of the ETEQ? The Bioteq markings should reflect what the chipset actually is. I'm not sure that the DLC will work with a 287. At least it when I tried a Make it 486 (SLC) in my original AT, it did not function with the 287XL (technically a 387SX internally). Can't remember if the system refused to POST, or if the FPU was just not detected.

If you use a late model intel FPU, it will almost certainly clock to 40MHz, and it has many of the enhancements that the Cyrix chips have. It's said Intel updated the core to reduce heat and to catch up to the competition. I've never compared the old/new intels but it would make for an interesting …

Only Intel branded FPUs support Async mode. IIT, ULSI, Cyrix are not compliant.

In this case the DX motherboard isnt' a whole lot better because it has: A) No L2 cache B) A dreadful DTK BIOS C) requires a propreitary memory board if you want to use more than 8MB in SIMMs In this case I might go with the Biostar.

The XL24 was a low-end to mid range offering from ATi in 1992. By that time, cards with accelerated graphics were in demand. GD5434 should be designed for a 33MHz interface, so I would imagine it would have no problems keeping up with 12.5MHz at 0ws. In my experience the cards that will be wonky over 8MHz are SCSI (usually 10MHz is okay), some ethernet, and especially sound card. If your motherboard chipset has DMA …

I think you should do more tests on the soundcard when the DLC is installed in the VIA board, especially with SCSI installed.
