As far as I know, all the cards in the Mach8/32/64 series have a built in diagnostic that will show the location of bad memory chips each time you boot the computer.

Mach64 is probably going to be the most advanced for an ISA card. S3 had the 968 and 868 which were a little faster, but I don't think I've ever seen those on an ISA card before. Even the S3 801/805 are a pretty rare find on ISA. There are 4MB versions of S3 928 for ISA, but those are more inline …

You'd probably be better off with a regular 486DLC-40, or a TI486SXL-40 (if you can find one). They're usually a lot cheaper, and provide most of the performance.

Mach64 is a pretty generic term, as it had several versions itself. The version you are thinking of is the Mach64-GT and GTB, or Rage and Rage II respectively. I accidentally did this to a Ti 486SXL-40. It runs fine at 2x25, but one time I accidentally left my 66MHz oscillator in and burned the cache. The chip works as long as the cache is disabled.

There's no point to look for more ROMs. In EVEN/ODD setups, one ROM contains all the even bits, and the other all the odd bits. 80MHz is a bad idea. You'll probably just fry the internal cache. Don't risk it with such a rare CPU.

Kelvin64 EZ uses CL GD5430 (32-bit). When not sold in a box, they are hard to distinguish because they appear to be using the same PCB, and there is usually a sticker covering up the chipset.

The difference between Cirrus Logic and Tseng (as far as I can tell), is that the 2nd megabyte on the W32i actually does something, whereas on the CL all it gives you is some horrible interlaced modes.

I have never owned one of these cards, but it is my understanding that they load sound fonts into system memory like the SB Live cards. So I would assume they use the same soundfont banks as ISA AWE64s.
