I can't tell if you're running a optical drive on that card, but I don't recommend doing that. Those cards often don't do ATAPI well at all and it can cause tons of probs. I can't pull out the connector plug using fingers alone, so I end up by using a pair of pliers, but that is beginning to crush the power plug. And it makes me 😠 and :sweatdrop:y! 😜

I have learnt a valuable lesson with this "stuck note" problem, and the key word in this lesson appears to be "unpredictability". ...But that's great news about the CT3980 though! All hope is not lost! 😁

Thanks for the explanation! So I guess I didn't solve this problem after all. Curious. Oh well, I removed the digital audio cable, and replaced it with an analog one, and now I hear CD audio.

I think it's a voodoo 1 card, but it comes with 6mb of RAM. The cable which goes in to it from the (2D) VGA adapter is not a 15 pin cable, but a smaller round cable with 9 pins. I tried the Miro driver package, but it failed to run some games which the standard voodoo 1 reference driver package …

yes, you will never succeed to use the card under windows with this mobo... It just won't work, plus the drivers are some strange VXD ones (no wdm) In one case I could not even get DOS working on a 440BX mobo from ASUS... Really, this card is for 386/486/p1 systems... :) Oh wow - I was quite lucky …

OK here is the deal: the software works fine on win95 and win98 BUT sw20-pc is only compatible with all 386/486 mobos and some pentium1 ones... AFAIK threre are some hard-coded addresses that conflict in newer mobos and the onbard dsp/ram/whatever cannot initiliaze the card... so it becomes useless …
