Re: Formula 1 99 vs Indeo 5

in Windows
It seems that ffdshow (32 bit) should be able to decode Indeo 5 (so Virtualdub can use it to reencode the videos). Also, if you are brave enough to use a command line program, ffmpeg can convert IV50 videos. It can read Indeo videos, but I don't know if it can write back to IV32. Also keep in mind …

Re: q3 this slow?

in Milliways
AFAIK, the source released by ID uses different (slower) libraries for sound and ports may be slower. Also, modern ports may use modern libraries (DirectX, OpenGL) that may not be available on your CPU/OS/VGA or perform slower.

Re: ZX-Uno + PC/XT Core

in PC Emulation
They're planning to use the extra memory as EMS, so it will run with 8086. There is a repository that contains everything related to the project, so the VHDL description may have been uploaded there.

Re: Orange Pi Plus 2, now what?

in Milliways
I've had three Raspberry Pi. One was the first model B (256Mb RAM), other is a model B with 512 Mb and the last one is a Raspberry Pi 2 model B. I've tested it with Retropie, and it works fine. All 8 bit systems works fine, 16 bits usually works well (sometimes it stutters) and even some PSX games …

ZX-Uno + PC/XT Core

in PC Emulation
I don't know if that's emulation related, hardware related or if it is of any interest to most users... The ZX-Uno is a FPGA board based on a Xilinx Spartan, with the same form factor of a Raspbery Pi. That board was meant to work as a ZX Spectrum, but also allowed to load other "cores" (a "core" is …

Re: getting dvds to run smoothy in win98?

in Marvin \ Video
Software may be a issue, too. DXVA was not supported on Win 98, so players had to have their own acceleration support. Your best choice would be using an old version of PowerDVD that supports your video card (maybe PowerDVD 1.6?). Another option would be using an old version of GeeXboX (a bootable …

Re: CVX USB Parallel Port experiments

in Marvin \ Sound
It's a DLL that allows (or emulates) direct access to hardware (something forbidden on Windows 2000, XP and later). Willem uses it to access LPT port directly. There is an alternate (or maybe a wrapper) DLL that "translates" between addresses, so a write to port 0x378 may be redirected to 0x9800 (an …
