I guess so, it's trying to put out one signal to two different cards, which reduces the volume. Although the PCI card is only used in Windows, and the ISA card only in pure dos. I don't know when it initializes the PCI card, and if it's possible to disable it only in pure dos. Doesn't seem like it. …

Maybe not necessarily "old hardware", but... I have Windows 98 SE PC with an ISA sound card I use to play dos games, and a PCI sound card I use to do Windows stuff. It's a bit tiresome plugging over my speakers each time I wanna do one or the other. I've ordered two different 2x 3.5mm male to 1x 3. …

How do I know if my SCSI controller doesn’t allow drives beyond 4GB or 8GB? I searched for the specs online, but all I could find is that it has a data transfer cap of 20MB/s.

That blows. One of the major selling points was that I could plop the SD card in my modern PC, copy the Windows 98 installation before making changes, and then put it back if I mess something up.

Well, I tried disabling the gameport on my PCI soundcard outright in device manager. Now the controller works on my ISA card when I play dos games in Windows, but in pure dos, still nothing. Is there something you need to put in autoexec.bat to initialize it, or something?

Ah, yeah, that's what I meant. I didn't put anything about the Live! card in my autoexec, so that shouldn't get initialized in dos. I also got the Live! card to work by using a driver CD from Archive.org, so that works fine now.

I have an AWE64 Gold in a Windows 98 SE PC, but when running Skyroads through direct DOS mode, I get no music whatsoever, only sound effects. Skyroads doesn't come with a Setup program, so I don't really know what else to do. Anyone else who has run into this issue before?
