Re: Sony will stop making floppy disks next year

There's an article about this topic (Sony stopping floppy disk production) in the newspaper this morning. The end part says "Sony sold 12 million [floppy disks] in its home country of Japan last year." With that in mind, it's curious why Sony are halting production - I think it's in March 2011. …

I don't have any machines running a 64 bit OS, so I can't help you on that. But I do have a question for you. What version of Rayman 2 do you have? I have the 10th Anniversary pack (Rayman 2, 3 and Arena) and have never had any problem in XP. So I'm curious on why you need to run Rayman 2 under …

Re: Installing Windows 95 on DOSBox

We're at a point in time where you're kind of screwed if you need to play old Win95 games that won't run either under DOSBox+Win3.1 or WinXP/Vista/Win7. I'm hoping that in a few years we'll be able to use a VM or something to do decent emulation of Win9x class hardware that includes support for …

Re: Radeon cards and old games

in Windows
As far as ATI cards go. I've used 7000 (pci), 9250 (pci), X1550 (pci-e) and HD3450 (pci-e) cards (all in various XP machines) with no ill effects in DX5/6 games. Try Shadows of the Empire. :) It uses table fog and the game looks completely off if the drivers can't do that. There's also the pixel …

On modern nVidia cards, you get horrible black box artifacts in most Infinity Engine games unless you use various hacks to disable hardware DDraw acceleration: http://www.shsforums.net/index.php?showtopic=30840 How much newer? I have a 7950GT in one of my pcs and have had no problems. So I guess …

Re: 3DRealms Online Store Overhaul

I'd like to see 3DR redo their shareware versions with the same ease found in their store. It'll encourage more sales that's for sure. yet the publisher can't/won't provide a complete version to sell. Yeah well, Steam doesn't give you Quake/Quake2 cd tracks, either. I guess that means id software …

Re: 3DRealms Online Store Overhaul

wow the comments in that thread....i wonder if they've completed grade school Expecting an ex-3D realms employee like Joe Siegler to fix a product is pretty dumb. But the one poster did say he was sorry and was directing his comments to 3D Realms itself. And what is wrong in wanting 3D Realms to …

Re: Blood & Magic

while it might seem irrational to do. We would hate to see the DOSBox or any of the other projects being shutdown because the support forum hosted or linked to illegal material. I agree that links to or hosting "abandonware" is risky business for an emulator group. But there is an underlying …

Re: Blood & Magic

There is an irrational distain for "piracy" on this site. I don't know how to help you and I very much doubt that one of the "regulars" here will help you. You should take Mini Max's advice and find help at one of the many abandonware sites.

Re: Blood & Magic

If you can find me a licensed copy of blood and magic to purchase I will gladly do so... I have been trolling ebay for about 6 weeks and amazon only have copies of might and magic. I don't condone piracy, but you do bring up an interesting point. I think classic dos games will be increasingly more …

Re: why is nibiru slow?

in Windows
Diamond makes a 256 meg HD 2400 DDR2 PCI card that only requires a 200 watt PSU. I saw it at microcenter.com. It is pricey though, $89.99. I've noticed that ATI cards have lower power requirements than nvidia cards. A pc from 2004 should have at least a 250 watt psu. My HP from 2002 had a 250 watt …

While, PCI video cards do suck, you can find some half way decent ones. Newegg has an assortment of DX9 and DX10 PCI cards. Just find one that meets your price and PSU. $50 isn't that much to pay to improve your pc.
