Re: D-Fend Reloaded (DOSBox frontend)

Hi there- I would like to make an installer package, but I don't seem to have the option "Make Installer Package" available.. I've checked under every heading, but the help document says it should be under "Profile". Furthermore I have installed the NSIS 64-bit package. And one more issue -- when I …

Re: D-Fend Reloaded (DOSBox frontend)

I have a question. I recently got a new computer, and I want to transfer everything from d-fend over to my new comp. Games, settings, etc. Is there a way to export everything? Or do I need to manually copy the game folders, and then find a settings file somewhere? The settings I'm talking about are …

Re: D-Fend Reloaded (DOSBox frontend)

Hello Alexander, after the new 1.2 update I'm always getting the following error message after confirming the last step while adding a new game with the wizard. "Listenindex überschreitet das Maximum (0)" The game will be added but I have to edit it once to see genre, developer, year, ... correctly …

Mouse not working in some games

My mouse works fine in Space Quest IV, V, VI, and King's Quest V, VI, and VII, but it doesn't work in the older games such as Space Quest I, II, or II, or King's Quest I, II, III, or IV. For example, in King's Quest I SCI, I can see the white crown mouse cursor, but I can't manipulate it at all. …

Re: King's Quest VII DOSBox settings?

That kind of stinks. Of course you can complain to GOG where you spent your money on the game rather than to collector who is doing all this to help people getting things streamlined (he usually appreciates a *thanks* for sure). Well, when you say it that way. Don't get me wrong, I'm very thankful …

Re: King's Quest VII DOSBox settings?

All of my installers are designed for the original media. This is why they often fail with people who try to use them with abandonware. I am not familiar with most of the GOG Quest releases. I do know that they include the AGI versions of the early games and not the SCI remakes where as the 2006 VU …

Re: King's Quest VII DOSBox settings?

What files do you have for SQ5? I got it from the gog collection, so whatever files are included there. Is it not compatible with this version? I guess that would make sense.. I have the physical disks for 4 and 6 and your installers worked flawlessly. I didn't have 5 in physical disk format so I …

Re: King's Quest VII DOSBox settings?

In the config files, but those settings may or may not be right for other games. The installers do come with a small config tool to easily change a few basic DOSBox settings for the game, such as full screen or Windowed mode, and copies over the ".DRV" files and the original install files in case …

Re: King's Quest VII DOSBox settings?

If you have the cycles set to more than 10000 you will encounter the firecracker speed bug. The installer that Dominus mentioned will give you optimal settings for both the game and DOSBox. Additionally, you won't need the CD to play. That sounds great, however, I really like running the games out …

Re: King's Quest VII DOSBox settings?

I haven't got the full version here , so I can't compare it, the demo just crashes... Does the sound skip, or merely sound wrong? 10000-20000 cycles should be perfectly alright, considering this game was made for 80486 PC's. At least the issue is definitely NOT related to your cpu being too weak. : …

Re: King's Quest VII DOSBox settings?

cycles=max Without information about your system specs, any further advice is quite difficult. Well, I'm running windows 7 64 bit, I have an intel i7 930 2.8ghz processor, 2x nvidia gtx 470s running in SLI, and 12gb of ram (I think it's ddr2). Also, setting cycles to max seems to amplify the …

King's Quest VII DOSBox settings?

I got KQVII working in DOSBox, but I'm having trouble figuring out the optimal settings, specifically as it relates to the CPU settings. For example, when I leave everything on auto, it runs ok, but then the sound glitches heavily especially when the two rabbits run across the screen at the …

D-Fend Reloaded not loading scummvm games?

Just curious, but when is the next release of D-Fend Reloaded coming? The program is awesome; I spent a long time trying to figure out why it wouldn't work with scummvm until I checked the bug page on d-fend reloaded's site and saw that it wasn't compatible with scummvm 1.3.x!

Re: Different Sound in Space Quest 2??

With DOSBox you're running Sierra's original AGI interpreter, with all of its limitations. ScummVM's AGI interpreter clearly has some additional refinements, but it's still going to be pretty much the same game either way. Gotcha. That makes sense. Still though, when I heard that music in scummvm I …

Re: Different Sound in Space Quest 2??

I think ScummVM is using the Tandy sound system for the AGI games; although it might be doing things to further enrich the sound... but I've never heard a real Tandy, so couldn't say for sure. Setting machine=tandy in the conf file is the easy way to get similar sound in DOSBox. If you don't want …

Different Sound in Space Quest 2??

My favorite all-time game is Space Quest 2. I have always played it on dosbox and loved it. However, recently, I downloaded scummvm (yes, I know I'm posting in a "dosbox" forum), and saw that it supported AGI games, so I tried running sq2 on it just for kicks. To my surprise, the audio in the game …
