I always believe it to be a good idea. And it can't hurt the board unless you mess it up. it could be as simple as one half-bad cap that throws the memory slightly out of spec and causes all the problems. I've gotten really good at recapping things.

Had to replace the power supply in my xeon rig. Bought a nice corsair CX750M. Got it on sale for $80. Also got an open box GTX 1030 for $60. Only overspent my "budget" this month by like $10. I can finally playback h.265 60fps video now. But for some asinine reason I still cant play netflix on this …

that issue is either bad ram chip or a bad connection somewhere. its honestly a coin flip telling which one. 1: you can re-flow the solder joints, careful to not short anything. this happens to be a cheap & easy potential fix. 2: replace the ram chips. @liqmat wow, what a haul! The empty sockets are for the CMS "upgrade" which allows you to use CMS sound in games. Also dibs on those corsair ram dimms. 😀

not worth inot really worth it. i have many cheap sata drives. even the cheap ones will do 100MB/s. i current have 24x 1tb drives and the performance is about 1 gb/s. but thats ZFS r3 so its to be expected.

thought: If you had the original bios, you could "match up" the updated part in the correct spot and make a larger bios that will be complete. I can't image it being that difficult. I've flashed the bios many times with many boards, and never had any issues.
