Re: What's your preferred parental PC setup?

in Milliways
I've always updated my parents computers to the latest OS after I used it personally for about a month or so to get a feel for it, so currently Windows 7 Pro. I never enable the RDP nor Remote Assistance on their machines. Instead I make the trip across town to fix anything that needs to be fixed. I …

Re: Which OS to use on new system?

Well I did notice this in memtest86+: RAM settings are detected as 1550MHZ (DDR3-3100) / 19-15-15-31 triple channel... while I only have two DIMMs, configured for dual channel, and it's set to 1866MHz / 11-13-13-30 in the BIOS. Not sure if that matters but it's certainly wrong. edit: CPU-Z works …

New Router Install

in Milliways
Just installed a new WAP device as I have a couple of wireless notebooks and a Samsung Tablet that needed to be connected. My old router was a Netgear FVS318G VPN router, wired only. I found out later it has a WAN side bandwidth limitation of around 10MB even though the WAN port is a 10/100Mb port. …
