Ah yes, the good ol ghetto long screw + nut method 😉 I was thinking they could have used a custom brass or aluminum spacer instead to make it look cleaner, maybe even a plastic/nylon type spacer would look ok.

Wasn't there a way to use the msbatch.inf file you could enter in a correct CD Key and the setup would automatically grab that ?!? Technically that means you do not have to enter in a CD Key. I use the same thing on my custom made Windows 98/98-SE Installer Discs.

Yeppers, I can see that it's a PCI interface now, I bet there is an AGP to PCIe Bridge Adapter too, just not sure it would be worth it especially of the PCI to PCIe supports 66MHz 😉

Nope, I'd do a memtest86+ scan. I've seen that IRQL error with bad memory before. I would recommend the same thing, this could be just a coincidence that it fxied the issue and my guess is it will return of indeed you have a faulty stick of RAM ;) Sometimes it can be one or more sticks have come …

Maybe a PCI or PCIe serial port card from SiiG would work ?!? Not sure if it supports LEGACY OS's or not as I think everything is controlled by software rather then DIP Switches and/or Jumper blocks.

I have not noticed this occruing on my PCI MAC Edition card yet. I too purchased one of these and flashed it with a PC BIOS and it still functions fine, I will have to look at the components you are referring to, maybe just bad luck or indeed there are some marginal components being used ?!?

I too prefer my Creative X-Fi Titanium over any other brand, have the latest Fatality model for PCIe ;) I also love the Alchemy drivers for those older titles that do not show Hardware EAX support without enabling this for these titles, it basically gives back the hardware EAX support in these game. …

I think it has to do with the newer PCI Spec Slots having lower voltage requirements, but this usually means not enough power getting to the card and hence will not POST. It's not like you can plug it into a PCI-X slot, at least not that I'm aware of.

I thought 98 and above had default NE2000 drivers, maybe I'm thinking of Windows 2000... It is for sure an NE2000 Compatible NIC. Back in the day I managed Novell Networks and there were a lot of manufacturers trying to get onto that same boat 😉
