Re: Fedora Linux Download link is broken

Given that dosbox isn't being updated too often, you could always try using the system tools. If you have yum running, you could use that from a terminal (as root) yum install dosbox Or you could use whatever software installer is called on your version of Fedora (on my older version it's Add/Remove …

Re: XCOM

Dosfreak, there was a Humble Bundle about a month or two ago that had drm-free X-Com games in it. The X-Com Apocalypse I bought from that has a nearly identical layout except for having a capture sub-directory. Hadn't tried it till now. And didn't have any problems with saving. What sort of …

Re: Thrift store finds? (Software)

in Milliways
Personally I figure that the game is rare enough, that it isn't that much. And I suspect that if I were to find it on elsewhere, it'd probably cost more than $4 anyways. And haven't got around to playing it yet. Though this might urge me on

Re: Mount cd file in dosbox turbo on Android.

I had similar trouble getting the gog versions of dungeon keeper and theme hospital running on Linux. After hours of searching, it turned out that dosbox needed to be built with SDL_sound support included in order to mount those type of images. I'm assuming that you have no way of loading the SDL_ …

Re: Wing Commander 1 installation problem.

in DOS
My apologies if you've already tried this, but are you including "-t floppy" when you mount the floppy? In the past I have had trouble with some games not acting right when failing to use -t cdrom to mount cdroms, and it is likely that the same could be true for floppies.

Re: Compiling DosBox Megabuild 6 on Ubuntu 12.04

Not sure if this is applicable but in http://www.vogons.org/viewtopic.php?t=27968&highlight=esp0 it suggests adding #include to include/dos_inc.h. PS Just found http://dosbox.svn.sourceforge.net/viewvc/dosbox/dosbox/trunk/include/dos_inc.h?revision=3713&view=markup that has the proper location as …

Re: Compiling DosBox Megabuild 6 on Ubuntu 12.04

sudo apt-get install libsdl-net1.2-dev libsdl-sound1.2-dev libfreetype6 libfreetype6-dev should do the trick on Ubuntu. (Though you will have to run ./configure again to get the compiler to realize that those files are present now. And if you aren't going to use anything network or modem related, …

Re: Compiling DosBox Megabuild 6 on Ubuntu 12.04

Personally, I'd have left the libsdl-net1.2 and libsdl-sound1.2 alone, and installed the libsdl-net1.2-dev and libsdl-sound1.2-dev, but I don't think that's causing the problem. There's a discussion about problems with compiling Mega Build 6 at http://www.vogons.org/viewtopic.php?t=25007 with a …

Re: Maximizing with .

You might want to try changing the value of "output=" in dosbox.conf. No guarantees that it'll work, especially if (as I suspect) something's screwed up in the Unity that comes with Ubuntu 12.04. But probably worth a try. PS Also you could try changing the fullresolution to more closely match what …

Re: Warcraft II Soundblaster stopping install

You might need to add the option for the mount-point for the directory with the files from the cd with "-t cdrom" when mounting, as I remember one other game having the install program run differently depending upon whether it was running from something it thought was a cd or a hard drive. If the …

Re: DOSBox linux messed my desktop resolution

I use Fedora, which uses Gnome, so I can't be certain how much use this will be. The first thing I suggest trying, even if I doubt it will help, is to check to /etc/X11/xorg.conf, if it exists on your system, and see if any changes were made in it. Much more likely is that the DE has made the change …
