Re: List the PC games that you have beaten

in Milliways
Update: Finished the Anno 1404 campaign tonight. Think I liked 1701's campaign better, the new one is more story driven with people nagging you all the time. I think the game is geared more towards the players playing the continuous sandbox mode, with the campaign just getting your feet wet.

damn, and DTUM looks nice... Here's a boxed version on ebay, and the seller ships worldwide - http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/AD-D-Descent-to-Undermountain-BIG-BOX-PC-CD-ROM_W0QQitemZ380214470156QQcmdZViewItemQQptZUK_PC_Video_Games_Video_Games_JS?hash=item58868c660c You have to admit, the game looks fun and …

I'm playing Descent To Undermountain at the moment. Seriously! I bought it a year ago on ebay, and I have only just installed it. I was the only bidder. I've just read some reviews, and now I understand why. I picked up a mint boxed copy of DTUM about 5 years ago when I started getting into retro …

Updated 3-6-2010 Added Torchlight I was playing Torchlight during the holidays, playing a Mage type whatever it was called. I was around lvl 17-18 I think, had my animal armed with spells and 2 nicely upgraded golems. BUT when all 4 of us started attacking, the screen was filled with so much magic …

Re: Current rig.

I'll continue to hold out for a Geforce 300 card, I like smooth performance and AA at 1920x1080 and the Geforce 300 series looks to be the most likely to easily achieve that in graphically intense games.. I think Nvidia will have to get it right with the 300 series to top ATI's 5970... That card is …

Re: First retro PC!

I never used a K5, I owned a K6 though. And it was far better than the PIIs it was competeing against. I just cant agree with that. I owned a Celeron 300A @ 450 and a AMD K6-2 400 and the celeron ran circles around the K6-2 when it came to things like Quake III. And the AMD refused to overclock any …

Re: First retro PC!

The Pentium MMX 233 seems really interesting. I hope I find one. I have an extra one if you cant find one locally, but overseas shipping kinda kills the deal. Even if you can only find a 166 MMX, those puppies overclock just as well as the P233s. With a good socket 7 mobo they can hit 290. Or 300 …

Re: First retro PC!

prophase_j wrote: That motherboard is a socket 5. You can tell that from it's use of SIMMS, instead of DIMMS. So the 133mhz is going to be the max, unless you find a Pentium MMX Overdrive, then you can get to 200mhz. Could possibly be a early or budget socket 7. I have seen those with only SIMMS.

Re: First retro PC!

Nice rig, but you have so many more slots to fill. 🤣 If it was me and running Win98, I would go find a Pentium 200 or 233 MMX and drop in if if the mobo supports it. Dont forget a heatsink/fan if you overclock or get a new CPU.

I played this back in early 96' and I thought it was an awesome shooter, really showed off what my new Pentium would do. :happyhappy: So I just installed a 1.2 version disk I have and running on my Pentium 200 with Awe64 I had no issues playing the game game in DOS or from within Win95. Sorry keropi …
