Re: Cut & Paste in DOSBox (03-20-2019)

in DOSBox General
Sorry for intruding this thread, but didn't a few APIs or buffers for Cut&Paste exist in the past ? I vaguely remember that Windows/386, DESQView and MS-DOS Shell/Editor/etc. had such a feature. Not sure if my memory plays tricks on me, though. 😅

Re: PCEm. Another PC emulator.

in PC Emulation
Regarding that maximum conventional memory on page 45, again.. " I have found out that IBM PC 5150 continues BIOS memory test to 704 kilobytes with undocumented SW2 DIP switch settings ON ON OFF ON OFF and DOS automatically uses all of that as conventional memory. This is an alternative way to …

Re: Any good Windows 3.1 games?

^Hi, Win 3.x games often were shareware/freeware, while others may have been commcercial but sometimes got re-released as freeware by the game studios afterwards. Mobygames, on the other hand is merely a game database with lots of backround information and links to the games homepage's etc. :) Edit: …

Re: OAK OTI-037c - 800x600 mode ?

in Marvin \ Video
Hello! i have a question: Oti067 works in hercules mode in a monochrome monitor? the specs says that it only emulate MDA (text mode without graphics). Hi, the DIP switchs on the back of the card do select the monitor type, which sometimes is also tied to a specific mode. On a VGA monitor (maybe EGA …

Re: Beneath a Steel Sky

On another note, does anyone know if you can get the MT-32 sound AND speech? Hmm, Not sure, since I had played Beneath a Steel Sky roughly in the late 2000s the last time, but the ScummVM interpreter supports the game and has MT-32 emulation buil-tin. From what I remember, it also had speech the …

Re: DOS 6.22 on CF-to-IDE not loading programs

What else do you suggest I do? Personally, I would clear the whole partition information, not just the MBR.. :) https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Track0 Several special tools can accomplish this task (fdisk is not enough), I like S0Kill . I can't predict how your card will react to that, though. I …

Re: My new Olivetti M24

Hi ,just found another interesting thread at the Vintage Computer Federation forum.. Hope you don't mind for me mentioning that. :sweatdrop: It's called " Another discussion of CGA/EGA on (relatively) modern monitors " and the AT&T 6300 is also mentioned there. Apparently, some of the newer LCDs ( …

Re: OAK OTI-037c - 800x600 mode ?

in Marvin \ Video
Hi everyone, just wanted you to know that I got myself an OTI-067 for testing. It's apparently compatible to the VGAMODE utility of the 37c (it looks the same, at least), so I'll do some testing next of the CGA and Hercules emulation modes ( "Three Shades of Gray" demo on OTI-37c ). I'll also see if …

Re: Cute games for DOS

Dhigan wrote: https://archive.org/details/msdos_Jill_of_the_Jungle_1992 was a good one ! Yeah, it was indeed. My little sister often played it at the age of ~7 or so, so I think it wasn't too un-cute. 😀 If memory serves, even on a 386 portable once that I got on the flea market once (w/ combo …

Re: My new Olivetti M24

I'd leave the on-board graphics intact, if possible. It's fine for 808x games, I think. Here's a great video by Trixter about the M24's sister model (AT&T 6300): https://youtu.be/mUCh46_MzZU (Source: http://www.vcfed.org/forum/showthread.php?68875-AT-amp-T-6300-What-can-I-do-with-it) I seriously …
