Tube amps run at a very high voltage, so they should rightly be discharged prior to work. The same with mains connected capacitors. Don't worry, anything up to 64MB is fine most of the time. It's also within the cacheable area of some motherboard caches. Win 3.1 runs fine on VMs with i5 and i7 CPUs, so I think it's perfectly possible. 😁 I heard, on real hardware, the 64-Bit processsors could be problematic, though. In that case, just run it in Standard Mode instead (win /2 or /s).

Um, not sure, but judging by the odd spacing of the pins, that memory looks a bit like Zip RAM to me. That memory was also used on ISA or rather VLB graphics cards, I believe..

PC-Tools 7.x by Central Point had some sort of a remote desktop feature. I could be wrong, but I believe it supported serial, modem and network (IPX ?) connections. It also worked for graphical applications, I believe.

In theory, it could also be useful for current computers. 😁 Parallel port add-on cards still exist in PCIe form, for example. Problem is, however, to find models that can be configured in DOS also. Plus, the OPL2 is more speed-sensitive than the OPL3..
