Re: Apple is getting off Intel CPU’s ?

in Milliways
Ok, please let me rephrase what I wrote. ARM became (now: was) the primary architecture of the Handheld and Pocket PC platforms which ran Windows CE. Originally, in the late 90s, there were three architectures which were supported by Win CE - SH3, MIPS and ARM. These were still supported on the " …

Personally, it's kinda ironic how things turned out. Intel was once leading in the ARM department with its XScale CPUs (derived from StrongARM ?).. AFAIK, Intel has never been a leader in ARM ecosystem. I believe Intel dipped their toe in the water, thought 'gosh, water is too cold and filthy', and …

I dont understand why so many of you are so against the apple idea to make their own CPUs. Intel is lacking any amazing way to surprise us. AMD is catching up, but the software support (drivers etc.) from the AMD is always somehow shaky. I stopped reading right here. Personally, it's kinda ironic …

Wonderful news, thanks a lot! 🙂 So except for exotic video modes, such as Amstrad/Schneider PC1512, Olivetti M24, BBC Master 512, Sanyo MBC 555 , IBM PGC , 8514/A , TIGA and Mindset graphics the game virtually covers all types of old video hardware. Edit: Edited. Edit: I forgot Hercules InColor. : …

I beg to differ. I understand that most of you are into killer games were loads of blood and body parts fly through the scenery, but.. Old and slow OAK and Realtek cards might be fine for graphic adventures. Especially, if they are supported by the games and support 800x600 in 16c (the original …

Windows XP - Inferior SB emulation compared to VDMSound. Use NOLFB, vgafix, Solvbe, dgvoodoo 1 if video issues. In XP NTVDM doesn't have SB emulation. It's speaker only. I never tried installing an actual SB with it. Windows XP has SB 2.0 Emulation, according to its Autoexec.nt file. @echo off REM …

Ah, sorry that this didn't work.. 😅 If you like, you can try MOD4WIN also. It's a MOD player only, but has FPU support for its IDO filter. When enabled, it will use the x87 to provide better interpolation and filtering (to get rid of harmonics). Definitely worth a try, I think. On DOS, Impulse …

Hi, I don't know, but.. Oldstyle MP3s had an ID3v1-Tag (?) which stored artist and title information at the end of the file. This was later changed and the information was added to the beginning (header), so that streaming was possible (web radio).. https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/ID3

I just checked out UTM on github and the developer is indeed looking forward to port his app to macOS. Theres a GOOD chance UTM will provide x86 emulation for macOS Big Sur through QEMU. Not sure how the performance will be but by judging how Windows XP and 7 runs on latest iPad Pro (youtube videos …
