Re: "Black Widow" Pentium III Build

Atech 384 MB PC-100 SDRAM * * Maximum supported memory configuration Let me know your thoughts. BX should support 256MB memory modules and several of them (depends on the number of memory slots your board physically has). But this is an Intel branded board and we know these did have artificial CPU …

Re: Voodoo2 blues, advice?

It's a Katmai (first gen P3) and its FSB is 133MHz You can tell by the part number, CPU-World has a dedicated page about how to read CPU part numbers, including your Pentium III The jumper is kinda irrelevant, as your CPU is most likely completely multiplier locked. So you can set it to whatever you …

Re: 386DX-40 Build

Weren't rounded cables more susceptible to noise due to the data wires not being separated anymore by ground lines? I remember reading the same thing somewhere, and makes sense, but have never run into trouble so not worried I do remember having had odd stability problems with my Barton 3200+ rig …

I don't know from top of my head how many VSA-100 chips max can work on a single board, but with the miniaturization of old designs that's possible with todays fabs, how about a 4x VSA-100 die with all the RAM on the same die as well? On-die RAM. Or at least RAM on the same package. Kinda funny …

Re: VOODOO 2 12mb sli

Another vote for Pentium 3. A coppermine of around 800MHz should be more than enough 😜 For Voodoo 2 SLI you could opt for something similar as a Voodoo 3. Personally I like using a single Voodoo 2 in ss7, but most people seem to want to run SLI (which should work perfectly fine on ss7).

Re: What machines did you use in High School?

I can't remember lol! I think my schools did have a couple computers, but I didn't have a computer for myself back then. I have absolutely no idea what kind of PCs they had. At some point I got a Pentium II (which I still have) but I never really understood what was under the hood until I wanted to …

Re: Voodoo2 blues, advice?

If you want, you could show us a couple pics of the board. Particularly one of the entire board and perhaps a couple ones of some of the printing on some sticker or so. Quite often there is a mark of the brand on the board (sometimes it's on the chipset heatsink) and in a few cases it's on the back …
