Re: Voodoo 3 2000 PCI

I found running Unreal on my K6-III 400 with a single Voodoo 2 acceptable though. If it did have bad slowdowns, I would've remembered it. On that machine you're not going to notice a difference :) Is it a good match for the system overall? Will I be able to enjoy Unreal, need for speed, ect properly …

candle_86 wrote: oh im aware of that, but i tried to get it working last year, its dead, tested it with a volt meter, I get no power to it. I didn't know these PS/2 cards even existed. I know I looked for them from time to time and never found any solution I was really satisfied with.

Re: reclaimed K6-3

MVP3c2 is good, my PSU was dying and didn't even know it, swapped it out and its running just dandy now. Now loading 98SE drivers onto it. Also what is the card type I'm looking for that has PS/2 ports that are useable without drivers? I would like PS/2 instead of USB and finding a Serial Opticial …

Re: Saying hello

Yeah good CPU collections are always nice to look at, I hope OP and other collectors would keep these things for many years to come. :) Good motherboard collections, however, seem to be far rarer. With hindsight, we probably should've been more aggressive in saving good boards from binners & …

Bravemart! :D And at some point I used some tools so I could ehm...create some "special" items! :D And bravemarting using coop …

Didnt notice this thread either until Tetrium commented. That is an insane quantity and variety of CPUs. I am kinda jealous. See a lot of things that I am missing. Great collectors of Vogons! What's missing in your collections? :P :D There's collectors who have like over 1k CPUs or more, but those …

Re: Windows Me - "Misunderstood Edition"

The machine I tried ME on back in the day was not an AT. It was a PIII-550/ATX, and it never had problems shutting down with 98SE (and later 2K). It was only with WinME that, instead of turning off the PSU, it would occasionally just display a blinking cursor after the OS finished closing. Odd. But …

Re: Pentium ~1997 build

Very well written and very good pics too! :D This thread would actually be very informative and helpful to anyone new who happens to be looking for info (and guides and walkthroughs and examples) about how to start building retro rigs on their own. And about those prices, I used to keep a big stash …

Re: New rig.. Socket 754!!

More I happen to have very similar DDR-400 RAM stick, also made by OCZ and the same type of heatspreader. I don't know whether it was due to abusive handling by the previous owner or because of something like heat, but one of the sticks had its heatspeader bent, causing the heatspreader to not …
