Your SIMM's are FPM? (not sure if your board actually supports EDO). Have you tried powering up the board without any memory?

Whenever I saw a ZIP drive in a thrift store, I'd use one of my bicycle lights to shine into the drive so I could take a look at the read/write heads, so I kinda avoided buying broken drives that way 😀

For this I try to use an old plastic card like an old credit card, though I have to admit it didn't work once for a 486 CPU that had this type of goo after I removed the passive HS (actually part of the writing on top of the chip came off along with the goo on the heatsink).

Maxing out would be 512 MB :) In general I try to use as few memory sticks as possible for stability reasons. So usually I got with 256 MB. This. Personally I stick with 256MB for a faster P3 rig. I don't often use more then 256MB since it doesn't seem to have any benefit to install more in my case …

"Any ideas if it may be worth getting?" Depends, if it's not standard, it might prove problematic repairing it in case it ever fails. Personally I'd ask if I could open them up before actually buying them (also depends on his asking price) and taking the more useful parts.

I'd guess that video capture cards back in the pre-PCI days were very expensive? That could be a reason why I never seen many of them (I can't even remember ever having seen an ISA video capture card in the early PCI days)

I didn't see a real ZIP drives, but one of my friend who entered college in desigh course, he should report his Photoshop and 3D studio works. He used HDD rack and a HDD so he submit his rack to professors or upload to FTP. (We,thug,used HDD racks for sharing games, softwares and nudity. :lol: ) …
