Re: Cloning Windows ME

in Milliways
I'm not trying to create a dualboot, but thanks for the info. What I'm trying to do is basically this: Slave a drive with a complete ME install and copy all of it to a folder. Copy the content of that folder to another harddisk and hope I get a cloned fully working ME install. The problem I've been …

Re: New rigs! (first ones of a bunch)

Yeah, for the standard Athlon64 machine, 754 Vs. 939 doesn't really matter one way or the other. The big deal about 939, IMO, is the availability of dual-core CPUs. On the other hand, a lot of 754 boards have the ability to run the ML- and MT-series Turions , so there's the possibility of making a …

Thanks for the suggestions you 2!!!! 😁 😁 😁 I've been breaking my head over this problem! I tried more experiments but the result was always the same, no bootdisk. I'll try your 2 suggestions and report back later with the results 😉

Re: Your first high performance pc.

Ha, A yearly upgrader then! I used various P3s, the most powerful of which was a 1ghz P3 until 2005(!) when I upgraded to an A64 3000+ s939, then a year plus later to an single core AM2 system, a year later to a 5200 X2 and a E2180 system, then next year a 7750BE AM3 system which I upgraded …

Re: Retro Rig Photo Thread

The problem is that it's kind of hard or expensive to get a PSU within specs. Older PSUs had lots of power within 3.3V/5V, newers have power on +12V rails... I can get a PSU with 200W (3.3V/5V), surpassing minimum required by ASUS, but it's expensive. The funny thing is that this board has ATX12V. …

Re: New computer today

I guess they will. Just put a nice cooler on it. It's a limited overvolt anyway. Have you ever run one long term in a 3.3v single voltage motherboard for extended periods of time? I'm wondering about the long term stability overvolted and whether it will shorten the life of the chip substantially. …

Re: New rigs! (first ones of a bunch)

Cheers mates! I like to mix and (especially) match hardware together and I think about how to proceed with them before I start building them. I kinda have to as I have so much choice in parts! What I am lacking right now are really beefy PSU's and RAM, so those 2 are 'rationed' :P I have to say that …

Re: These all in theory fit the same socket

That is quite a nice collection! Some of the bigger ones look like real tab breakers! Cheers lol. It wasn't actually meant for showing off but more with the intent to show how heatsinks developed over time. The first row is Socket 3, second Socket 7, 3rd Socket 370 and the last is Socket 462. …

Cloning Windows ME

in Milliways
Lately I've been attempting to clone ME from one drive to another but I've encountered a problem. I want to be able to clone ME (and I greatly prefer either manually, which is how I attempted this) so I don't have to go through the setup every time again. Second reason is for ease of tweaking. This …
