Yes that's what happens. I always put Sergey's BIOS first and XT-IDE after. I usually configure the FDC BIOS before i glue the 2 files together. Not a big issue IMO.

In theory if a drive supports natively PIO modes 3 and 4 then it should work. In theory... I'm not sure exaactly about the time frame though. It seems that between 1996 and 1998 is a safe bet. http://www.pcguide.com/ref/hdd/if/ide/std_ATA2.htm

Be sure to have a 16bit ISA I/O card ready when you get the XT-IDE card as the 1.44M floppy drive will stop working with the included I/O card as soon as the motherboard gets BIOS support for 1.44M drives. I use Filezilla Server to set up an FTP server and then use mTCP on my retro rigs, including both the XT and Socket 7 builds.

For 1000uf 6.3V i reccomend Nichicon L8 polymers. For the bigger 1500uf you can go with Panasonic FM's. You can't go wrong sticking to the same values.

If this ends up beeing memory incompatibilty with 44256 chips I will be somewhat irritated but I can't just make my self buying the expensive DIP-19 "MB81C1000-10 1Mx1bit DRAM" chips I have been suggested could work with this board as I have loads of 44256 chips and this is what most late XT clone …

If you want a card with both SB, OPL and Game Blaster compatibility you have 3 options. There's the Sound Blaster CT1320, there's the CT1350 ehich you have but you need one with the CT1336 chip, and you have a third party one by ATI, the ATI Stereo F/X. There's also CT50 clones which can or not …
