Yup, Haven't played around with PQ (Partition Magic) in awhile but I don't believe it allows altering cluster size...and even if it did I wouldn't trust it. Yep, some older installshield installers error out when they detect "alot" of HD space. This can be bypassed in NT with ACT and/or APCOMPAT but I never encountered the error under 9x....of course I haven't used 9x at home since....1998. ;) IIRC, NTFS can go all the way down to 512b per sector...... …

Weeeird... Create a batch file with mem /c in it. Then run the batch file with VDMS. Then check how much memory you have free.

Consider disabling it by default? Most DPMI game's run terrible or not at all in NT4/2K/XP and having DPMI enabled by default results in less games working due to the memory requirement....

Hmmm, DPMI is enabled by default in VDMSOUND. MSCDEX is disabled. Dunno if this game requires DPMI (doubt it) but you might wanna try disabling it.

Don't have this prog but does the game's sound driver eat up memory? Have you tried different sound settings? (Disable midi/enable sfx or enable sfx/disable MIDI)

95/98 with 98lite with 8mb of ram will run "fine" on a DX2/66. Less processor power than that and I would definetly go the Win 3.1/DOS route for sure.

P2 or P3 is too new. P100 and below are best for OLD games but even those are too fast. Best option is an old 386/486.

There is no way to get Duke 3D with SFX in 2000. Yes there is the hack CLI2NOP but it doesn't work well with Duke 3D. Your only option is Connectix Virtual PC or "upgrade" to XP...but even wtih XP you'll get lousy sound effects and no VESA. So really your only options are Connectix Virtual PC or …

My thoughts: memory slow (But good 'nuff) CDR slow (Got my Liteon 48x for $90+) IBM HD 60GXP (Scarryy...watch those drives closely...especially in RAID 0...Hope you have a BACKUP!) Everything else looks good! 😀
