To be fair the title of the forum does read: DOS Getting old DOS games working. Doesn't mention Real DOS, NTVDM, PCDOS, VPC, Dosbox, or any other DOS really. Perhaps in their eagerness to get their problem fixed they don't read the posts in the forum before posting themselves?

DirectX was shite for gaming in 1995. DOS games were far more fun,prevalent, involved, use of "3D" in 1995 than any DirectX game in 1995. Due to the stability of DOS and developers experience programming in DOS that is most likely the reason why. Heck, Windows 95 wasn't released until late '95. …

I was using C64's, TRS80's, Apple II's, from whe I was 7-10yrs old. From 10-now is all been x86 PC baby. I'm only 24. (25 next month). I wouldn't consider 95 as the date that DOS died. Problem nowadays is the fact that newer games are not using the Audigy to offload to, they are using the processor. I'd really like to talk to a developer to ask why. The i440 is a much better chipset than the POS Via in my parent's Compaq. You *shouldn't* have any problems. Just make sure that your PSU is enough to handle whatever card you get and that you can return the card or sell it if it doesn't work out.
