24 Season 3

Just finished watching the DVD's. I've only ever watched the series on DVD so I'd been waiting for awhile for it to come out. Overall pretty good. I like the fact that they got rid of some of the characters that were hanging around. Only bad thing about the show is the procedure's at CTU that are …

Re: AGP Voltage ?

The very first post of this thread explained that with your mobo/CPU combo that there would be no difference between PCI/AGP. There really isn't a major difference in speed on the latest and greatest mobo's between PCI/PCIE/AGP. Heck, even on the latest and greatest games I highly doubt you'll see …

To be fair the title of the forum does read: DOS Getting old DOS games working. Doesn't mention Real DOS, NTVDM, PCDOS, VPC, Dosbox, or any other DOS really. Perhaps in their eagerness to get their problem fixed they don't read the posts in the forum before posting themselves?

Re: MAXTOR hard drives...fail!

I vote the promise controller. For some odd reasons I've always had issues with Promise and IDE HD's. The next time I do a cheap raid array I'll probably go 3Ware. 3 times in 3 years isn't good. I've had SCSI arrays with no issues for 4 years running. Shouldn't the controller notify ya when an HD …

Re: Long filenames?

I remember using LFNDOS back in the day. Support could probably be added in but I don't think DosBox needs it. LFNDOS Supported API's Notes ----- SUPPORTED API FUNCTIONS For those of you who are more technically minded, LFNDOS provides the following functions (limitations are in brackets): INT 21/AX …

Re: DOSBox in the real world press

Crap, I was about to post that I thought Myst came out in '95 but I think Myst for Windows 95 came out in '96? Windows 95 was released late '95 so it had to be '96. I hated Myst anyways, puzzles had absolutely nothing to do with the "game". Just a bunch of pretty pictures to click through. Was just …

Re: SEAGATE Hard Drives

Went to BB today and saw 300gb Maxtor/Seagates in the lower $200 range. If only 400gb models were that low....if only I had a job.....if only I was rich....if only I was a handsome movie actor thief guy like on Ocean's 12. 😉

Re: DOSBox in the real world press

DirectX was shite for gaming in 1995. DOS games were far more fun, prevalent, involved, use of "3D" in 1995 than any DirectX game in 1995. Due to the stability of DOS and developers experience programming in DOS that is most likely the reason why. Heck, Windows 95 wasn't released until late '95. …

Re: DOSBox in the real world press

I was using C64's, TRS80's, Apple II's, from whe I was 7-10yrs old. From 10-now is all been x86 PC baby. I'm only 24. (25 next month). I wouldn't consider 95 as the date that DOS died. Plenty of DOS games came out around that time and after. 1998+ would be a better date. I'm thinking BattleCruiser …

Re: SEAGATE Hard Drives

Problem nowadays is the fact that newer games are not using the Audigy to offload to, they are using the processor. I'd really like to talk to a developer to ask why. I guess from a mainstream aspect not all users have Audigy and are using onboard.....and all users have a processer so why not use …

Re: Yanker Read This

The i440 is a much better chipset than the POS Via in my parent's Compaq. You *shouldn't* have any problems. Just make sure that your PSU is enough to handle whatever card you get and that you can return the card or sell it if it doesn't work out.

Re: Yanker Read This

http://www.ertyu.org/~steven_nikkel/agpcompatibility.html Beware, I have a GF4 MX PCI and a Geforce FX 5200 that I've tried in my Parent's K63-400 Via mobo. Both bluescreen when doing 3D intensive tasks. Trying different drivers seems to change the frequency of the crashes (instead of being able to …
