In regards to the Windows 98 PCI-E thread there's nothing in that thread that hasn't been done elsewhere in more depth if anyone is interested in creating a new guide then they should be able to do so easily assuming they have the hardware and the time.

Why would you want to run Doom in a VM in Windows 3.11 when you could run it in DOS? Playing skifree while playing doom? If you want Doom in Windows 3.11 then use WinDoom.

It's possible that whoever put together the USP package was using a newer ver of MSVCRT for testing or mabye you overwrote it with an older ver According to this v7 is included but I've only been able to use msvcrt v6 with 9x....of course I haven't modified msvcrt.dll so the v7 are likely modified. …

These likely do not work due to the New Dark unofficial update. Not sure what the procedure would be to downgrade since I have the original versions (although I guess I could install the new dark update and run windiff), might be easier to contact GOG support to see if they have the old version …

IIRC, The GOG ver of System Shock 2 uses the unofficial New Dark update which GOG had nothing to do with except for including it with the game and of course providing the game for legal download. So most of the thanks should go to the anonymous dev working on New Dark.
