It doesn't seem like processor emulation is what you are looking for. Also If you want multithreading then use new applications or games. Try Qemu, KVM, Vmware, Virtualbox, Hyper-V, VPC, etc.

If the profile doesn't work I'd just install on the 386, then install on the 486 and then do a windiff between the two installs to see what is different. Once you know what is different you can switch out the files as needed with a script depending on what you wanted to boot.

Try installing the Intel graphics drivers. If using the Windows drivers then you are likely using the OGL->D3D wrapper built into windows. IIRC, Windows only allows it for certain games and Quake 3 is one of them. You can check inside of Quake 3 and it show the driver being used as well as the …

FreeDOS is very compatible and is still being developed so if you encounter a game that doesn't work but does on MS-DOS then if the bug is reported to the FreeDOS devs then it can be fixed.
