When trying to play old games in newer versions of Windows never use autorun. Always try to find the executable that autorun is trying to execute. (Well you should never be using autorun anyway....) Run that executable and see what error it gives you.

If by 97% you mean CPU utlization and if so you must be referring to a single processor system? Go into task manager and view what is using up your CPU cycles. If DOSBox isn't being used then it will not affect your system.

IIRC they are all affected by the Windows 7 pallette issue (which there are workarounds for). Windows 8 fixes that tho.
