Re: Windows XP - Keeping Alive & Connected Beyond 2014...

in Milliways
I'm sure I'll have XP around and connected for a long time to come. That said it won't be my main OS and I won't really do any web browsing on it but either way if there is a problem I'll just reimage the box and all fixed! I mean if I am looking for something quickly I'm perfectly fine with going …

The activation issue for XP was solved long ago as long as you don't mind unofficial fixes. As for patching new vulnerabilties it's possible that someone make look into porting the 2003 patches to XP in the same fashion that has been done with porting from XP to 2000 by WildBill and BlackWingCat …

Re: Which OS to use on new system?

I'm on my new system now, installed XP x64 but now I'm running into trouble. I installed XP by slipstreaming SP2 and AHCI drivers onto the CD with nlite, installed all drivers, ran windows update, then discovered that Windows setup made a mess of my partition table. So I got a gparted liveCD and …

I'm not very enthused about strapping something to my head with wires or having to have other equipment in addition. Let me know when they can just implant a chip in your brain and I'll be all over that (after it's been thoroughly tested using chimps like Lawnmower Man ;) ) http://www.youtube.com/ …

Re: I'm confused about the continued use of GliDos

Just download the latest glidos and you can pick NTVDM,vdos32, or dosbox from the GLIDOS gui. Thanks for the information. I've thought about buying GliDos a few times, but what stops me is having to use an online unlock service for each install. Call me stubborn or weird if you like, but I really …

Re: Where were you when the world was DOOMed?

First time I saw Doom was at the exchange on base while I was living in Okinawa, Japan in 1993 The tech who maintained the computers there was installing it and playing it and he let me play as well. I remember he was going to connect two of the computers via null modem so we could both play but he …
