NEVER use compatibility mode with DOSBox. When he said "XP Mode" he was referring to Virtual PC for Windows 7. Alternatives are Virtualbox, Vmware Workstation or Player and Parallels.

Windows Store's Term of Use. Oh, so in other words if you use the Windows store and it finds a copy of Firefox or Chrome installed on your computer they can delete it and replace it with Internet Explorer WITHOUT getting your permission first? I don't know about replacement as windows store's term …

I think it's because Vmware doesn't really market Vmware Player very well and you have to register to access it (If you download it from their site). Also there's alot of old information out there about how it cannot create vmdk files (old versions couldn't do that) that scare people off.

Well you should DX8+ support on Windows 2000+ guests has been excellent with Workstation 8. Occasionally there will be a graphics glitch but it's MUCH better nowadays than in earlier versions of Vmware. (All these tests have been on my laptop using my Intel HD 4000 so you can imagine how much better …

Yup same as Windows 7 but it no longer switches between Aero and Aero basic because Aero is no more.....so it's even better on Windows 8!

Windows Vista/7/8 32bit support NTVDM. If you want to run the programs full-screen though you'll need to install XP drivers. (Only valid for Vista/7) Also NTVDM support has gone downhill since the XP days so it may not be as compatible.

This issue is fixed on Windows 8 (at least for the few games I have tested) but yeah this and the other ddraw fixes/wrappers work pretty good at fixing that issue for Windows 7.
