Since your using PowerPC you can not use dynamic recompilation which signifigantly speeds things up. To add to the slowness you are playing a protected mode game which back in the day required a fairly powerful PC which means running it in DOSBox emulation requires a powerful PC. Wing Commander 3 demo you need to set DOSBox to lower than 8,000 cycles to get past the test. Once you do you can just backup the .cfg it generates and package it with the demo to bypass the test in the future.

What's odd is I never had to do those steps and I've installed the game multiple times over multiple operating systems. Must be different versions or something or mabye a new DX version broke something.
