You could always play a MIDI file with Media Player in v3.1. Can't remember if any MIDI files actually come with Windows if not we could either post one or link to one.

DOSBox is for running DOS games. VPC/Vmware is for Windows applications/games. To get anywhere near DOSBox compatibility in Vmware/VPC you need to run your DOS games in Windows 9x in Vmware/VPC. Even then you'll still have speed issues, 9x compatibility issues and horrible sound quality to name just …

The emulator is self-contained except for access to the file system. If you specify your E:\ drive as the emulated C:\ drive then only DOSBox will see the emulate C:\ drive.

Type in "ver" for programs run in DosBox. I think it's also in the video bios if you want to use an HD image.
