Autodetect in setups were known to be flaky back in the day. It's best just to manually configure. They'd probably be more problamatic in DOSBox with people using max cycles in dosbox.conf while the setup software is run.

I think I remember seeing a guide on the Steam Powered forums for converting the Steam games over to their respective ports. You need to download the doomsday engine and then copy the heretic/hexen data files over to that.

In the DOSBOX CLI you have to enter -freesize XXX (ex: mount c c:\games -freesize 900) because by default DOSBox only shows 110 meg as free). Don't know how this is handled in DOG.

The data files should be the same. All you need is the DOS executables for the game and sound and possibly the configuration file. That's what I did to turn my Win95 ver into a "DOS" ver. (Took the DOS files from the expansion for Win95 but there was only the game executable not the config …

I play the game in Qemu. Works just fine. Haven't tried networking with it but I don't see why it wouldn't work.

Well I installed it fresh on another computer and the activation screen never came up. Nice. Now I can finally test BioShock on 2000/XP/2003/Vista/etc without having to bother with activation.

Install Virtual PC and install the game in that. Older games require older versions of Quicktime which are not compatible with newer installed Quicktime versions.
