How can another lame sequel to AITD be the "father of the survival horror genre"? My "bleh" was for this game any any AITD game after 1/2. I think my "bleh" fits the sequels to AITD 1/2 very well.

If your computer isn't fast enough to run the game with DosBox then you can try the game in Windows XP without DosBox. If that doesn't work and you don't want to try emulators like MS VPC or Qemu then yes, you'll have to use Winders 98.

IIRC, Windows 3.1 has SB support built in so you can get sound effects. If you want MIDI your going to have to install the SB drivers. Don't have a link handy at the moment but just search google for Windows 3.1 SoundBlaster drivers. DosBox doesn't use config.sys or autoexec.bat. (Unless your using …

and .rar format and .ace and .lhz and .7z and....etc. DosBox is an emulator not a utilities compilation. Although I do think we should compile a useful DOS freeware package and mabye a windows one too.

I'm suprised that you noticed a difference between speed in D3D/OGL....I haven't noticed a diff between the two speedwise since the video optimizations.

You don't want it to say 100%, get it down to 90% if at all possible. Are you running DosBox in dynamic core? (Open DosBox.conf and set core=normal to core=dynamic).

What do you guys think of the monster leveling issues? For me I've haven't had any issues. I beat the first oblivion gate at Level 3 and it was pitifully easy I beat a second oblivion gate at Level 4 and it was pitifully easy. I just beat another oblivion gate at Level 10 and it was a few notches …

Sound is dependent upon other factors. VDMSound while better than XP/2003's sound emulation is ALOT better but it can only do so much. DosBox can do much more than XP/2003's sound emulation or VDMSound's but I think that in some ways it can never be better than the real thing.....and in some cases …

Depends on how you classify "old". IIRC, Windows 95b supported USB but I don't think there were any USB floppy drives around then. I think I picked up a USB floppy drive to play around with back in 2001?

DosBox doesn't affect your "system" speed. DosBox emulates your processor which means that the program you run within it will "think" that it's running on a very slow computer by default. To speed up/slow down DosBox read the README included.
