Wow, that must suck. Have you noticed a difference in CPU utilization between your main video card and the ATI Rage? Just wondering how well the recent video rendering changes in DosBox work on older video cards....

Try running "depends" on dosbox.exe to see which .dll's it's erroring out on.

If you mount your host filesystem using DosBox then you can create your own virtual C:\ drive....or any drive you want.

The point I was trying to make is that the problem is not DosBox but rather your video card/monitor. 😀

and it doesn't do anything in DosBox so it would probably be best if you either didn't use those .BAT files or if you customized them for DosBox usage.

I wonder why people keep on "optimizing" their dosbox.conf's with memsize=64........ I guess they never had any experience with DOS programs and assume that like Windows the more memory you throw at DOS the better.....when it's actually the opposite. You don't use .diff files unless you program. What your missing is a .dll that IIRC is included with DosBox 0.63. So if you don't want to download the .dll seperately then simply download DosBox 0.63, install it, and then copy Hal's dosbox.exe into the dosbox directory.

The game is likely complaining because you did not use the game's sound configuration program to the proper settings. It would help to know what the name of the game is.

8500? How did you come to that value? That is incredibly low. Make sure Task Manager is loaded while using DosBox. You want the "DosBox" process to be at about 90% utilization. If your hitting 90-10% @ 8500 cycles then your probably using core=normal instead of core=dynamic.
