Re: 40 Column Text Mode Issues

I think the screen was dark. I remember seeing a friend play KQ1 on his monitor outputted to his TV back in the day. Can't remember what kind of a computer he had but this was back in teh early 90's....it definetly wasn't as bright as was shown.....of course his TV could have had the brightness …

Win95 + DosBox

Well tried it out again just for kicks using ykhwong's 8/31/2005 build. Core=Normal 1. Had to set fresize to a larger value than default otherwise setup complains about not enough freespace. 2. Ran setup with these switches /im /id /is /iq /in 3. Windows 95 installed fine until the end where I got …

Re: DosBox user ratings @ Linux Game Tome

As far as people wanting to play DOS game: I think if we can: get the zip support into CVS, figure out a standard as far as archives go..what format...etc. Mabye include games images/title screen for loaders into zip? checksum capability for .zip or individual files Figure out what each game needs …

Re: DosBox user ratings @ Linux Game Tome

You'd be suprised. There are the DOSEMU fanatics that refuse to use anything else. (Of course there may be DosBox fanatics that refuse to use DOSEMU ;) ) The Old PC fanatics that refuse to use any emulation. The 2 mentioned above seem to have the most dislike for DosBox for some odd reason. I …

Re: Get your free Opera registration code here!

in Milliways
FireFox seems to lag on saving web pages and downloading files. Opera is also faster on slower connections (probably due more to caching than anything else). Also going backwards loads the page immediately (cache). Opera saving the "state" or web pages is handy.

DosBox user ratings @ Linux Game Tome

http://www.happypenguin.org/show?DOSbox&showall=1#comments Overall some good responses. Mabye the DosBox.sourceforge.net site should have a comment thread? Probably would be best to just link to a thread here at Vogons. This would be helpful for people that don't visit forums yet feel the need to …

Re: Discussion of fractional frameskip

Nazo On the frameskipping thing, I don't think it's fair to compare DOSBox to "other mature emulators" if by that you mean console emulators. Consoles and PCs work pretty differently on the rendering. Namely, consoles almost HAD to synchronize with the television thanks to interlacing, but, what's …

Discussion of DosBox PlugIn Support

'Moe' I like the idea of plugins. All these unofficial builds out there contain cool things which are simply not yet ready for CVS, and maybe never will. If we had a plugin API for adding IO-Port/IRQ/DMA handlers, Shell Commands and a few other hooks, those patches could be kept separate from …

Discussion of fractional frameskip

Taken from DosBox Wish List Thread: masta_g_86 Guest Quote: 2. fractional frameskip. Ex:able to choose x number of frames to be displayed BEFORE x number of frames are skipped. A setting of 4 frames displayed before 1 frame is skipped will display 80% of the frames, improving performance as well as …

Discussion of DosBox Fullscreen mode

Taken from DosBox Wish List Thread....the Wish List is for Wishes/Requests NOT length discussion! [Ben] DosBox addict Joined: 2005-02-20 Posts: 16 Since TFT market is growing and CRT's tend to disappear ... I Think we have to reconsider the FullScreen mode ... The main part of Dos Games are in …

Re: IPXNET settings

I've constantly heard reports from people having trouble connecting via IPX between 2k/XP and Windows 9x....even IPX for games between 2k/xp and 2k/xp is pretty shaky. Either use Windows 98 on the host for both or use emulation, dosbox/VPC/Vmware.
