I think DosBox inclusion into Windows would only be possibly if MS designed a software package like Linux has whereas it checks the web for the tons of software that is available for the OS, finds the updated versions and downloads them. Well currently DosBox can run Windows 3.1 but not perfectly. Mabye eventually Windows 3.1 would be perfected but it's not a goal for DosBox and I wouldn't expect it to be. Could someone branch off the DosBox code and add Official Windows 9x/NT support? Yeah....if someone wanted to and why bother …

Yeah, it's called Windows NT4/2K/XP/2003/Linux/OSX/OS/2.....anything but 9x. heh. It might be a good idea to tell us what game your trying to play so that it can be made to work well with DosBox 0.63+.

DosBox does not work with Mech2 Mercenaries. It's a DosBox problem not Mercs. We cannot discuss VDMSound in this forum since it's the DosBox forum so if you wish to use VDMSound then you'll need to discuss this in the VDMSound forum.

I've seen some COM->TCP programs on the net but I don't have any links handy. DosBox can already to Modem->TCP and IPX->TCP...don't think it does COM tho. DosBox only emulates IPX/SPX with no NETBIOS support so if your going to want to use NETBIOS then you'll have to do it on your host or under VPC/ …

The above is for Mech 2...not MERCS. I have no info on how to crack the DOS ver of Mech2:Mercs. I have cracked the Win95 ver of Mercs but that's hardly useful since you can only play it on 9x.
